BIBLICAL ASTRONOMY - THE BOOK OF ENOCH - THE CONTINUATION OF GENESIS CHAPTER 1, THE CREATION OF THE WORLD. PART 2

In Genesis chapter 1, we can read that God created the world. Genesis (ኦሪት ዘፍጥረት) 1:1-5

"The Creation of the World
1In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

We can find more information on how God created the world in the Canonical Old Testament books, but non of them are as informative as the Book of Enoch, called Henok in Geez and Hanok in Hebrew. This book, in its entirely, is only found in the Tewahdo Orthodox church, and they have found fragments of it in the Dead Sea scrolls in Israel. It is said that the Levites took these books with them to Eritrea and to Axoum about 1000 years before the birth of Christ. The exact age of the book may be disputable, however, it is certain that it came to be several hundreds years before the birth of Yeshua, or Jesus Christ. Despite the dramatic history of the Jews since thousands of years back, the book of Henoch is non the less considered as the first Bible in the world. Moses based some of his information on Enoch when he for instance wrote the book of Genesis. In fact, Enoch is our great, great, great, great, great grand-father; he was the great-grandfather of Noah. Enoch never died, he was taken up to heaven by God because he was so holy. He was the only holy person on the earth at the time. Enoch is a pre-flood man, and he provides provable information on why God caused the flood. This information is valuable for you, even today.

In this blog we will look into the biblical astronomy that this book provides. This is important in Christmas time because it has relevance for the birth of Yeshua, His star, and on how the three wise men (who most probably were Jews and knew the Scriptures perfectly) could understand the Signs in the skies when they came to worship the newborn promised Messiah.

We can read this from the New Testament:

"Mathew (ወንጌል ማቴዎስ) 2:1-2, The Visit of the Wise Men

"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”"

God wrote that He made the lights in heaven in order for us to be able to know the "signs" and "seasons .... and ... days and years" and to differentiate between them. Genesis (ኦሪት ዘፍጥረት)1:14.

In this blog, we will be going through the book of Enoch, first through the Tgrinna translation of the Geez biblical text , then from the English translation of the Hebrew texts of Enoch that were found in Israel.

This blog is a continuation of Genesis (ኦሪት ዘፍጥረት) 1:14-19. You have to read this if you are to understand the biblical astronomy that God asked Enoch to write for our blessing.

"14And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons,f and for days and years, 15and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day."

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE SAME TEXT THAT IS FOUND IN HEBREW IN ISRAEL. THE TEXT WAS EXCAVATED IN 1940s

Note that if there is any difference between the Geez-Tgrinna translation and the Hebrew-English translation, that it is mainly because while the Hebrew translation is based on fragmented Enoch scrolls, the Geez text was found entirely complete. You should also bear in mind that translations always lead to small minor differences, though they manage to deliver the intended message.

HANOK from Halleluyah Scriptures

CHAPTER 73 - THE MOON

1 And after this law I saw another law dealing with the smaller light, which is named the moon.
2 And her circumference is like the circumference of the shamayim, and her chariot in which she rides is driven by the wind, and light is given to her in measure.
3 And her rising and going down change every month, and her days are like the days of the sun, and when her light is uniform it amounts to the seventh part of the light of the sun.
4 And thus she rises, and her first phase in the east comes forth on the thirtieth morning. And on that day she becomes visible, and constitutes for you the first phase of the moon on the thirtieth day together with the sun in the portal where the sun rises.
5 And the one half of her goes forth by a seventh part, and her whole circumference is empty, without light, with the exception of one-seventh part of it, the fourteenth part of her light.
6 And when she receives one-seventh part of the half of her light, her light amounts to one-seventh part and the half there of.
7 And she goes down with the sun, and when the sun rises the moon rises with him and receives the half of one part of light, and in that night in the beginning of her morning in the beginning of the lunar day, the moon goes down with the sun, and is invisible that night with the fourteen parts and the half of one of them.
8 And she rises on that day with exactly a seventh part, and comes forth and recedes from the rising of the sun, and in her remaining days she becomes bright in the thirteen parts.

CHAPTER 74 - THE MOON & ITS RELATION TO THE SUN. HOW DID GOD CREATE THE YEARS?

1 And I saw another course, a law for her, how according to that law she performs her monthly revolution.
2 And all these Uri'ĕl, the qodesh messenger who is the leader of them all, showed to me, and their positions. And I wrote down their positions as he showed them to me, and I wrote down their months as they were, and the appearance of their lights till fifteen days were accomplished.
3 In single seventh parts she accomplishes all her light in the east, and in single seventh parts accomplishes all her darkness in the west.
4 And in certain months she alters her going down, and in certain months she pursues her own peculiar course.
5 In two months the moon goes down with the sun: in those two middle portals the third and the fourth. 6 She goes forth for seven days, and turns about and returns again through the portal where the sun rises, and accomplishes all her light: and she recedes from the sun, and in eight days enters the sixth portal from which the sun goes forth.
7 And when the sun goes forth from the fourth portal she goes forth seven days, until she goes forth from the fifth and turns back again in seven days into the fourth portal and accomplishes all her light: and she recedes and enters into the first portal in eight days.
8 And she returns again in seven days into the fourth portal from which the sun goes forth.
9 Thus I saw their position - how the moon rose and the sun went down in those days.
10 And if five years are added together the sun has an excess of thirty days, and all the days which increase to it for one of those five years, when they are full, amount to three hundred and sixty-four days (364).
11 And the excess of the sun and of the stars amounts to six days: in five years, six days every year come to thirty days, and the moon falls behind the sun and stars to the number of thirty days.
12 And the sun and the stars bring in all the years exactly, so that they do not advance or delay their position by a single day unto everlasting; but complete the years with perfect justice in three hundred and sixty-four days (364).
13 In three years there are one thousand and ninety-two days (1092), and in five years; one thousand, eight hundred and twenty (1820) days, so that in eight years there are two thousand, nine hundred and twelve days (2962). 14 For the moon alone the days amount in three years to one thousand and sixty-two days (1062), and in five years she falls fifty days behind: to the sum there is five to be added and sixty-two days.
15 And in five years there are one thousand, seven hundred and seventy days (1770), so that for the moon the days six in eight years amount to twenty-one thousand, eight hundred and thirty-two (21830)
days.
16 For in eight years she falls behind to the amount of eighty days, all the seventeen days she falls behind in eight years are eighty (80).
17 And the year is accurately completed in conformity with their world-stations and the stations of the sun, which rise from the portals through which it rises and goes down thirty days.
